Trips

With One Ocean you can explore the beauty of two different sides of the underwater world in Zanzibar. The stunning reefs around Stone Town as well as the famous Tumbatu Island and Mnemba Atoll.

Stone Town's dive sites are characterised by big beautiful coral gardens, it is also possible to do wreck dives and night dives.  Mnemba Atoll is the most popular dive site of Zanzibar where there is a great variety of marine life, including a resident pod of dolphins!

One Ocean boats take both scuba divers and snorkellers for 2 dives a day with a surface interval spent on the boat where a delicious snack made of seasonal fruit and traditional Swahili food can be enjoyed.

Dive packages can be combined between east and west,

the prices are the same for all dive centres!

If it's not scuba diving or snorkelling you are interested in or you just want to relax on the water, we offer sunset cruises on one of our traditional dhow boats. Beer, wine and snacks are served while you can enjoy the magnificent sunset over the Indian Ocean before sailing back to Stone Town.

Tumbatu island & nungwi reef

In Kendwa, on the North West Coast, we dive Tumbatu Island and Nungwi reefs that offer some of the best corals in the area which are home to a diverse selection of marine creatures.

BOAT TRIPS

Our traditional dhow boat leave for two trips a day:

Morning trip: we do two dives (each session is about 45-60 minutes) around Tumbautu Island or Nungwi reefs. We also organise snorkelling trips to Tumbatu island.

If you are staying in different places on the island (Uroa, Chwaka, Nungwi, Paje, Jambiani, Michamvi, Kizimkazi, Stone Town, Mangapwani, Chuini), you can still dive with us. For most of these areas we can help you to arrange a taxi at reasonable cost.

Meeting time is in the morning (between 8:00 a.m. and 09:00 a.m.) and we are back after 5-6 hours (between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.), depending on the tide and sea conditions.

Matemwe

One Ocean Matemwe, our largest dive centre, is ideally located on the main Matemwe beach within easy walking distance from Sunshine, Zanzibar Retreat, Villa Kiva, Zanzibar Pearl, Kena Beach and Zanzibar Queen. For hotels located further away we provide a complimentary transfer service.

Scuba Diving and snorkelling with One Ocean gives you the chance to see and chat with our local crew about another part of Zanzibar life - off the beaten path away from the mainstream tourist routes.

Because of the tide we usually gently cruise one way on our traditional dhows and travel one way by bus - on an excellent road.
